10 Reasons to Never Move to Las Vegas
The city of Las Vegas is a glitter-coated bear trap. Drawn like mosquitos to the scent of human flesh, people come from around the world to get their fix in one way or another. Visiting for a fun weekend is one thing, but settling down as a resident introduces a new side of the city. To save you from a future of wasted moving expenses and lifelong regret, here are ten reasons to never move to Las Vegas.
Time Vacuum
Between the constant activity and the lack of seasons, it is easy to lose track of time. Months and years can fly by in a blink if you are not careful. Among locals, the belief is that if you don’t leave after two years, you’ll get stuck for at least ten. In California, the opening line when you meet someone is “what do you do?” but in Vegas, it’s “how long have you lived here?” The most common answer is either three months or eight years. Anyone in Vegas for less than two years is still in transition. They will either get caught up in the circus or burn out and return to wherever. Anyone from the latter group deserves a tip of the hat. It takes grit to thrive in a town where danger and vice lurk around every corner.
