When we moved into our high rise apartment, we were so excited it was the one area of downtown that didn’t feel claustrophobic. Now, thanks to at least 8 construction projects within a half mile in all directions, it has become an obstacle course to get to and from my home, and the sun shines on a lot fewer sidewalks.
According to downtown news, the homeless population has grown since I have been here. This fact is evident in the number of people choosing Pitbulls over smaller, more exotic dogs to “protect” them from the overflow of people in varying states of consciousness that wander the streets in and out of nail salons and coffee houses.
I have cheerfully dealt with all of this because at least once I walked through the gates of my complex, I was only a few steps from the sanctuary of my sun-drenched apartment with a 90+ walk score, stunning views, and all the appointments of modern living. As an added luxury, my…
